Hazen Research Inc., Colorado

Funding was obtained to build and operate a full-scale test production machine at Hazen Research in Golden Colorado.  Initial testing using one pump with split streams feeding the opposing nozzles proved to work just as in the proof of concept testing five years ago.  Hazen again was able to obtain a high 60’s percent iron concentrate. To maximize the efficiency however, equal pressures are needed through each nozzle.  Even installation of valves didn’t greatly improve the situation.  The only answer was to install two separate pumps.

Our search for specific pumps through contact with over ten pump companies proved a difficult challenge.  More than one company could make them in about eight weeks, but that was a lengthy delay.  Finally, our technical advisor Rob Reeves located two pumps in Illinois.  They are now installed and ready to continue testing.

We are somewhat backlogged in testing several submitted samples.  Testing now includes comparisons of raw tailings versus ball milling versus our DHL system going through density separation.
