Our Process
Tailings are transported as a slurry to the plant site, where they are pumped through specialized nozzles into the Dynamic Hydro Liberation (DHL)™ platform’s comminution chambers. Here, the tailings are liberated into their separate minerals. This process is significantly more efficient than conventional ball milling. The DHL™ system employs a patented two-step liberation process developed by IronTech Resources.

A Breakthrough in Mineral Liberation
In 2014, inventor David H. Scriven was granted a U.S. patent originally developed for uranium recovery. Building on this foundation, the technology was later adapted to explore the potential of iron ore tailings in Northen Minnesota.
In October 2018, a proof-of-concept study conducted by Hazen Research, Inc. in Golden, Colorado, confirmed that these tailings could be successfully upgraded to a high-grade product containing over 65% iron (Fe). This marked a major milestone in demonstrating the viability of the process.
Since then, IronTech has made substantial technological advancements and filed additional patent applications to protect these innovations. Notably, our most recent patent claims were accepted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office in just six weeks awarded in May 2025 — a testament to the strength and novelty of ITR developments.
